In my experience, I always charged by the child. I figure if its one only 5 an hour to be reasonable! Two or more then you can charge 6 or 7 an hour. Dont be afraid to tell the parents either, they seem to like the sense of boldness in a babysitter. I know this now especially having a little one of my own. Hang in there! Babysitting is FUN! If you make it that way! Make the kids love you, and the parents will be begging you to spare every minute to watch their kids! |

to be honest it allllll depends on where you're from. in california its usually 10 an hour but i would ask some other people who babysit what they charge |

You need to ask other babysitters or parents what they pay in your area as it can vary from $3 or 4 an hour up to $15 or more.
Take the baby sitting certification classes that are usually offered at your local YMCA/high school or fire department, in this way the parents will feel you are more mature and better able to handle the job-which leads to better pay.

At least the going local minimum wage. You might also consider an "Surcharge" for two or more kids. that will make the task more difficult.
There should be an understanding about snacks, soft drinks, use of alcohol, drugs and visitors, use of phone, where the parents are, emergency phone numbers and contact phone for the parents while they are absent.
You should also be advised - in front of the children, of bed time, and other rules of discipline. |
