Its a great question. No one here or on this earth can give you a real answer to that.
As a small business owner, consider this.
You could be sell spoons to certified nursing asisstants. It don;t make sense but if you are a good business man and sales man, it can be done.
Yes, it takes quite some time to do research of your local demographic and see what is in need for products and services. But if you wanht something turnkey, good luck.
To finally answer your question. A successful home-based business really relys on the owner of the business getting the proper zoning for a home office and state and local licenses. Then implimenting a business plan, doing a financial analysis to see if if it will be profitable, analyze the pitfalls and possibilities of your product or service, and work harder then you have ever worked before to create a successful business.
The product, service, or both is irrelavent for the most part. Its your drive to run a successful home-based business is what will make you succeed. |

Most home based businesses being promoted are just scams and it is the promoter that gets rich off of your money.
That being said, the best home business to consider is one in which you have a firm understanding and experience. For example, do you like photography or graphic design? Are you good at it? Stick with what you know.
Remember that for any business to succeed, not only will you need knowledge and experience, but you need working capital.

From personal experience, I have two businesses that have been in operation for over 5 years. It is rewarding and fun if you do your due diligence first. |

In researching hundreds of home business opportunities prior to leaving the workforce, I found very few that did not make me very nervous. There will be people who make a great deal of money but statistics show that most do not. Often those who make money, make it off of those who sign up and fail or from "get started for $ fees". Look for programs where the profit is based on people succeeding not just on joining. I finally went with a company that was totally free. That felt the best to me.
