What is the easiest way to start selling on EBay?
How do you know what to put for packaging and postage for each item
Each item will weigh differently,do have have to get every single item weighed seperatly at the post office before hand,or are there guidelines?
If there are any sellers out there I would love some advice
Thankyou

Hi!

Yeah, all you need to do is either weigh your item on the kitchen scales, or if it is big, on bathroom scales.

Then go to:

www.royalmail.com

Choose which postal service you will be using.

Check the price against the weight - simple!

Don't forget to add something on for your time, and packaging materials. Usually I would say around £1 if it's a small item, around £2.50 for medium and £5 for large items.

A lot of people get ripped off on ebay with p&p, but now with ebay's new feedback system, people can rate the amount charged for p&p.

Another way of doing it, is to search for an identical item for sale as yours, and see how much they are charging.

Best of luck!

eBay Powerseller
Hi - I am an established seller on eBay and have 4 years experience and have sold 12,000 items.

As for shipping fees, it is easiest to charge a flat fee for the same type of item. For example, I sell shoes. I charge $8 shipping for shoes, no matter what they are or where they are going (for domestic shipping - international is a little more). Each box weighs out a little differently, but that usually covers it, plus a little extra for my time.

Get a postage scale so you can weigh items, and then go to USPS.com to get a rate quote. You can process your packages at home. All you need is a postage scale (which you can get for about $10 at an office supply store) and some labels. You can process shipments thru eBay, Paypal, USPS.com, endicia.com, or other sites. I use stamps.com. It is really easy and doing it at home saves you alot of time because you don't have to wait in line at the post office. My mail carrier just picks everything up each day.

Research what other sellers charge for the same type of item. You need to be reasonable and competitive. Overcharging for shipping won't get you many customers. eBay buyers know what is fair.

I have a website that was developed to help beginning eBay sellers. It may answer more questions you have about these types of issues.

First off, obtain one of these excellant books on the subject:
http://astore.amazon.co.uk/jdcouk-books-21/203-9338484-3266364?_encoding=UTF8&node=21

To work out the cost of packaging, weigh the items with the kitchen scales (if you have some), then use the chart on the Royal Mail website
http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/jump2?catId=400023&mediaId=11200122
Adding about £1 - £2.50 for the padded envelope

Or just "guesstimate" from what it's cost you in the past to send similar sized items (e.g. gifts to relatives) or see how much other Ebayers are charging to mail items similar to what you're trying to sell, and use that as a rough guide.

happy go lucky
i been buying and selling on ebay for nearly 5 years now, you will find it easier if you download the Turbo Lister which makes it easier to list item to sell, especially if you are listing more than 1 item at a time, as you can make a template for all the general stuff like your payment details and postage etc then you just change the actual article, then you download them altogether at the end, as for the postage items , you can get a list of postage from Royal Mail website, or the post office have little documents with all price guides on, for most items of clothes, books, shoes etc i use a set of kitchen scales, then i round it up to the next price, to cover packing and time etc, for larger items i use my weighing scales, after doing it for some time you get to know how much things are roughly. Another tip is for sending out small packets you are better off buying some grey mail sacks ( i get mine on ebay, come in variety of sizes) as these weigh less than using jiffy bags, or reuse bags and envelopes that you receive your own parcels in.

Geeeyaaa
It's easy.......

Ebay has a packaging option plan on their page set up for USPS, UPS and Fed Ex. Some box packages have FLAT RATES.

1) Ensure a safe and secured shipping by adding bubble wrappings, foam peanuts and a good sized box.

2) You can weigh it yourself and shipping costs depends on ounces. ( See USPS, UPS, Fed Ex fee charts)

The first thing to do is register on the ebay website if you haven't already. There's a menu for "sell your item". If you click on that it takes you through step by step. As for postage, go to the royal mail website, then click the "sending mail" option. There should be a section telling you about the different ways to send items, eg standard parcels. This will then show you the cost of sending items up to specific weights. You can even use kitchen scales to weigh your items, then compare to royal mail website to confirm cost of sending. Remeber to add on the cost of your mailing bag/envelope etc to your postage and packing cost.

scubs
get yourself a set of scales and weigh different items you can overprice somethings just to make sure most people do this

Forget eBay...it is tooooo oversaturated. However, If you enjoy talking to people then the below website will help you. The company pays daily. Just think of all the people that you know who do not have health insurance. You would own your own business. You can earn a very serious income. It is mind boggling! Review the below site:
