Businesses are difficult at best because it is competitive. What you need to do is find a way to make yours unique. Entering markets already saturated the only way to be successful is to differentiate your product.
If someone is making money others will try and make money the same way. The best businesses are those where you have an advantage over your competition.
That can be:
Experience.
Offering a product that you have exclusive rights over.
Competition by license or trade: Like Doctors, plumbers, electricians.
Other than that you are looking at start-ups that anyone with capital can start. So, you need to have superior location, prices, services, product. If you are able to undercut the competion by making your goods or service cheaper that would increase the probability of success.
What do people want? What do people need? How will you meet that is what business entails.
In parts of Seattle where I live there are a lot of condo's being developed in a certain area and they have no stores that cater to them. So, a pet store would work, or a pet walking service or a pet visiting service may be profitable, when they go on vacation and can not take care of their animals...you could walk the dog, and feed and play with the cats.
Elderly population is increasing: How about a service that vists nursing homes. You could read, or take them shopping, or around town to their favorite places.
Tutoring service for children
Detail car wash
Shoe shine in hotel, or coffee shop
Buy homes and restore them for profit.
Remember the demographics are changing, whatever you decide to do...make a business plan. How will you finance your business...for growth, will you need to find an "Angel"? If so, how much of the business are you willing to give up?
Good luck, I am a student taking Entrepreneurship classes, and studying business. I cannot list all the ideas, not enough time or space to do it. But a business plan is vital to success.
Good luck! |
