DIRECT MAIL!
That means flyers. This can be as cheap or as expensive as you like.
Why do you think that companies send out so much junk mail these days? Because they get things from it. The percentage of responses will be quite low, so the more you send out the more you will get back. You also have to mention your USP, (uniqe selling point) Think about what sets YOU apart from everyone else offering the same services. |

First you have to target your customers accurately: find out who they are, where they live, and what sort of media they are attracted to. Then you can foucs your ad dollars on the right media. |

guerrilla style marketing is the most effective these days. That means, do not play fair, give away free haircuts to everyone and anyone for as long as it takes to build your client base, if you can't afford to do this, you aren't ready to start a business. Make them an offer they can't refuse! |

Your local newspaper is probably the most effective |

Hand out leaflets in a real busy area of the town/city to some people and ask some shops to put ads in the window... not sure what else to do... good luck! |

Like people have mentioned...word of mouth plays a huge part in this.
Since recommendations play a big part in driving businesses such as yours....do you have a customer who can recommend your business? If so get on this newly launched site called http://www.servicedomino.com.
You get an easy link to your recommendation page that you can add to your visiting card...e.g mobilehair.servicedomino.com
As the database grows...you get traffic directed to your listing and category....as customers look for recommended businesses. Recommendations are the best form of ads arent they? If you already have a website you can include the links to the same once you have been listed thus driving hot leads to your site.
The basic listing is free! |

I would like to say word of mouth since the business is mobile hairdressing...........other things you could do is list your business in the phonebook...that would probably be the only other option you would have........get in touch with special event coordinators and tell them about your services and maybe she or he could tell the clients...... |

Word of mouth. Give your customer a discount on her next visit if she refers a friend. Make up business-card type cards for the referrals. Hairdressers as a rule get a reputation by word of mouth. Give your customers an incentive to refer you.
If possible, offer to volunteer to do hair for a charity event (haircuts for Locks of Love, for instance). The PR will be good for you. We have alot of migrants here and at the start of each school year, some salons/hairdressers volunteer to give the migrant kids haircuts for back-to-school. Something along those lines only takes an afternoon of your time and is great PR. |

Doing a good job and giving "xtra's" to promote your business. WORD OF MOUTH IS YOUR BEST ADVERTISING.
The internet, and local paper is also of some value. |

Think about your target demographic (age, race, gender, income, education) and hand out flyers in areas where those people gather. Never underestimate flyers. They work wonders for small businesses |

advertise your company in your vehicles! trust me you'll be getting lots of calls and people are going to be coming to you! I did that with my business. |

Well, if you had one of the Rainbow Warriors carjack you and hold you hostage for a couple of days in a Walmart parking lot and it made national news, I'd say you would be well known. |
