J C | What is the most lucrative "pyramid" type business -- Avon, Tupperware, Mary Kay, vitaminsetc.? |

If you think about it, the American business model is build the same way! Welcome to Corporate America! Get a peice of paper out. Take any corporation to use as an example. On the top of your paper, draw a circle. This circle represents the Owner or partnership owners, Then write two circles under that (President/ CEO) and the Vice President. Write a few more circles under that and you have corporate management positions. A few circles under that and you have store managers, a few circles under that and you have store department managers, a few circles under that and you have sales reps. People don't realize that but unless it's a one man show no hired help, no independent representatives, everyone works in a pyramid! So to answer your question, any business is a lucrative "pyramid" type of business! You can make money either way, MLM is harder then Network Marketing, and in a corporation or a business as an employee, you make less money, but feed the higher levels.
That's just how businesses are. Like I tell people, welcome to Corporate America!
But the real meaning of a pyramid or MLM is not what has been protraid by society who have failed in their businesses ventures. A real pyramid or MLM is having to recruit "with" the product or service solely. Meaning, you can't just sale the product on it's own. A recruitment has to come with it. Meaning they are only in actuallity recruiting for people, head hunting, not product selling. In network marketing, you can do both. Recruit people to help sell the products and services, and make money of the services they sold, either residually (if it's a service that's being paid for monthly) or one time sales. In network marketing you have a choice actually. You can choose "not" to recruit, and only sale the product or services on your own with no recruting of business partner. MLM there is no choice. Big difference with this pyramid structure. |

You can make money with any of these if you put in a little time and effort. |

Avon and Mary Kay are not pyramid businesses and you can make a decent amount with them as people know the products and they can be bought again and again unlike tupperware. Avon is a good one for a flea market business provided no one else is selling at the same flea market. They have sales to entice your customers. Skin so soft, for example, is an effective insect repellent as well as a bath oil. The combination skin so soft and sunscreen is popular with golfers. One of the secretaries in our office quietly leaves the brochures in the ladies' room so people can pick them up and give her orders. |

As you know, "pyramid" type businesses are illegal. Fortunately there are other options such as MLM businesses that are very lucrative.
More and more people are looking to join the on-line work from home businesses where they can enjoy tax benefits, flexible hours and the freedom of being their own boss while earning a residual income.
Not only is it a lifestyle and source of financial freedom, people are enjoying the added benefit of being able to be around their family more than if they were out "at" a job, something that is once again becoming important to society even though we all need that second income while raising our children.
If that's something that you're looking into, then start figuring out what the current market trend is, find something in that trend that excites you....something you'd really enjoy doing and start researching companies from there.
Of course, you want to beware of that "get rich quick" and "pay us this amount of money and we'll show you how" sort of thing. Run Forest run! You know that's gotta be a bad deal.
Of the companies that appear to be legitimate, check out what they're offering you and if that fits what you want, and if it does, then look even harder - inside and out - at that company. Find out what kind of training and ongoing support they'll offer you as well as that can be such a crucial point to your success.
Once you're satisfied that everything is above board, then go for it! The trend is swinging very quickly to on-line home based businesses and it can be very lucrative as well as rewarding.

Tupperware is also an MLM or Direct Sales Business, NOT a "pyramid". You can make money at most MLM businesses, but it is not overnight and it is some work. You can't expect to join a MLM/Direct Sales Company and expect to make loads of money right away, it could take a few years. You will do better from the start if you know a lot of people, if you are a stay-at-home Mom and don't know a lot of people it may take you longer to grow your business compared to someone who knows a lot of people.
Do your research and find out what commission different companies pay, find out what the party sales averages are, and how fast you would make back the money you spent on your your start up kit.
From experience I have found that when you get to start for FREE it is normally because the company has low party averages for sales and they get you in because it is FREE, but you have to work twice as hard to make money compared to paying $99 - $150 to start a business and making all that money back when you hold your first party.

Multi Level Marketing businesses are very lucrative businesses. Think of the people you know who book their travel on the internet. I work with a publically traded company that helps people make money selling travel on the internet. We are also a silent partner with Travelocity so the price is competitive we aren't marking up anything to make a profit on our friends and family. Check out pcvacation.net or email me marchinek@sbcglobal.net Good luck! |

I assume you mean direct sale. I do Mary Kay it is dual marketing you buy directly from the company for wholesale ($1) and sell for retail ($2) so you make 50% of what yu sell as a new consultant or as the top National Sales Director. The other avenue of income are team building which earns you 4,9 or 13% commision paid to you buy the company out of the comapnies 50% not out of the team members commisions and then there is the career car program. Mary Kay is consumabel like bread and milk people reorder every 3 months. Everyone has skin so anyone is a potintail customers. |
