I would say find out what actually people want rather than just assuming.
Even it appears to be common sense, the difference is unbelievable. Find out first hand by interviewing or talking to potential customers. They will appeciate you making a effort if you call in in person and don't give up! |

The only secret I know (if you want to call it a secret) is to forget about mass advertising and build trust with your prospects one at a time. As you get more satisfied customers, the rest will take care of itself.
Of course it depends on your service, but I frequent one place online that has been a literal goldmine for my own service. All I did was establish myself as an authority and wait for them to raise their hand. |

Firstly, remember that marketing is not the same as advertising.
I guess the secret to good marketing is being totally customer oriented. It makes no sense having the best product/service in the world, and no one to sell it to. You need to develop a marketing plan pitched towards your potential customer market, such that they would spend their money on you rather than anything else. Accordingly, you may need different advertising strategies, so that you can you know how to draw them against competitors in the same field, in similar fields, or just competing for the same dollar.
But finding out what the customer wants and showing them that you have it - and when they do get it they realise that it is more than they bargained for - is essential in a great marketing plan; instead of putting the focus on factors e.g. price.
Hope this helps.
Good luck with your new service! |

Hi
Here is a very useful article that I wrote some time ago about guerilla marketing. It explains how to market your business at a low cost and gives you some good examples.
Glad to help in any way - good luck.

I actually favour the honest approach that is occasionally seen. You know, like:
"Hi. I'd like to tell you about my service. I honestly believe it is the best available ..... on the market right now, and that it will help you ..... . But don't take my word for it, just give it a try."
It's a personal thing that I'm sick to death of advertisers trying to manipulate or con me, and if someone is just promoting something that they believe in in an honest way, this has far more appeal for me. |
