What is your business idea for a 27 acre farm?
Just purchased 27 acres. Mostly pasture and fenced for cattle (barbed wire) but not sure it's beef that I wish to produce or deal with. Any other good ideas for a rural business on so much land?
Additional Details
The black walnut tree's would be a great investment for my grandchildrens benefit and truly is a great idea. I'm thinking right now however, more along the lines of making a monthly income on the farm.
You all have given super ideas and I'll be looking into all of them. Thank You!

If you live close by a large community I would invest in either 100% organic fruits and vegetables to market to individuals, restaurants and health food stores.

Or if your land is not part of an agricultural land management restriction, I would build self storage buildings.

raise alpacas--for their fur--no killing involved, or make artisan cheeses--very, profitable these days.

horses..

The Invisible Man
Raise Boer goats. They're the new big thing in Texas agriculture. They're a heck of a lot easier to raise (and more profitable) than cattle (especially on a little 27 acre spread).

Llamas are a good investment. You could also turn your land into nature get aways such as campgrounds or trail hikes and horse rides.

depending on the climate .................Christmas trees , fruits , vegetables , various types of nuts ...........

horses , sheep , beef .
buffalo is also becoming quite popular .

cheers !

btw : congrats and way to go !!!!!!!!!!!

The Man In The Box
I read in the news that many farmers are now growing crops to distill into liquor rather than selling the crops for food because distilling (or selling to distillers) is much more profitable. You might want to look into that....
