Some sort of manufacturing / engineering.
If you get a product and retailer you can begin to manufacture, you will have the money from the company to buy materials with and sell them to the retailer, there would be no need to take out a personal loan.
Or you could work with some sort of enviormentally friendly group as rural areas are a target for factory's to be built, you can begin campaigns by joining leg ency with you family/ neighbors :) |

Look at food processing or handicraft production.
in food processing select a location where ingredients / raw mwterial is available in plenty.
one food processing that i have seen as a sucess is the pineapple processing industry . pine apples have a low yeild time . ie you get a crop for harvest in about 6 months . and the raw keeping time is very less unless processed .
check it out or oyher possiblities .

Well. Its a good question but u know now a days rural area is also well developed and well educated people are living there.Any buisness whether u want to start as a retailer or manufacturer you have to consider level of target customer.Another most important thing is in which state u want to start ur buisness bcoz for e.g.if u want to start in rural area of maharashtra ,think twice.Its a very difficult in comparison to Gujarat.Rural area of Gujarat is well developed and income of people is high.So location u select is another factor.You can also choose distribution type of business like distribution of mobile or prepaid cards, tec.

Nowadays, In some states Rural areas are much more advance like Gujarat, Karnataka, etc. And In monetory terms if you want to go with giant investment then go for AGRO MACHINERY SALES OR LEAS AS WELL AS SALES, Then you have option for POULTRY, HUSBANDRY, DAIRY PRODUCTS, and with small investment you can do AGRO CHEMCALS, FERTILIZERS,,,,,WITHOUNT ANY INVERSTMENT YOU CAN DO RE UNION OF FARMERS, AND BUY AND SALE OF CROPS ON COMMISSION BASIS. |

If you can get internet and have a phone, I would start an interenet business with little or no start up costs. A brick and mortar business has a tremendous amount of start up costs. Also, the number one most important thing with a physical business is location , location , location.

hi,
this is a nice question. Other than farming you have a very good business in rural areas. Nowadays getting labour is very difficult for the farming work and u can establish a firm with the latest farm equipments to plough the field, sow the seeds, harvesting etc... This will enable the farmer to finish his work in time and also he will not hesitate to pay u the reasonable rent for using the equipments.
You can also give counselling to the farmers as to hüw effectively they can irrigage their land (water management) and use quality seeds and organic fertilisers. You can also educate them how to work in the other areas like honeybee collection, pot making etc in the lean season when they have no work on the field
