Think about what you already know something about--where YOUR interests lie. Then think 'service business' in that area. Work out of your home, and go to the customer--provide quality, and charge a premium for it. If you are good with people, you will succeed by doing this. |

I would not personally start a business while pursuing a degree full time, but that's me. Michael Dell started Dell computers while in college, so each to his own. Starting a business and being successful are two different things. And marketing a business is a whole arena unto itself - you can have the greatest product or service in the world, but if no one knows about it, you won't make any money. Have you considered alternative ideas? For example, if you invest in mutual funds, stocks, and bonds you can better control your risk. The risk of small business and the STRESS can be extremely high, read some background on small businesses from the Census Bureau. Good Luck |

Every biz I've started had me working 60 to 70 hrs a week. On that budget your better off buying into a "program" biz. You'll pay 200 to 500 to get started, but you'll have the support of that company. You could spend the rest on marketing whatever it is that you sell. |

Find a local open air market, study it, and ask yourself is there anything that is not covered that you could sell which seems to be lacking in this market. (look at other markets in the area).
It could be Jewelery, or Clothing - whatever people might want to buy.
Buy some stock, set up a stall and pitch. You can fit the hours into your studies by chosing a regular weekend market. |
