What odd jobs could you do for people in your area just to get a little extra cash?
appart from the obvious window cleaning, gardening etc.

i am currently an at home father looking after my child whilst my wife is studying to become a nurse. i dont work because she hs to do varied shifts constantly and there is no work around where i can pick and choose shifts etc. i recieve no benifits and now i/we are struggling financialy etc. so im trying to thing of any ways of doing ODD jobs for people for a little extra cash. i thought of doing some sort of food delivery from home but as i asume you must need some sort ofhygine certifiacate or something so i think thats out!

If by food delivery you mean do the grocery shopping for someone, no you don't need any certificates. That is a good one. You could try that.

Are you handy? If you can do some basic stuff, folks who are not strong or not handy would pay for handyman services. It could be as basic as installing ceiling fans (not that "hard" to do, but you need good upper arm strength and a sense of balance). Ditto installing a garage door opener, changing out lighting fixtures, etc.

Can you assemble stuff? Lots of folks regret or fear buying things like a bike for their kids because you have to put the thing together!

Will you clean? You could clean out garages--the person could have you sort stuff, haul stuff away, possibly even clean the floor well and put something down (some folks are doing tile, epoxy, etc.). Can you build or put up shelves for them?

Sounds like your child is quite young, so not sure how you're going to see the child is looked after--do this only when your wife is home (make it hard to study or sleep), or is it a baby so small you can take him with you and keep an eye on him? Do you have the rare obedient child who would do something pretty safe (play with building blocks or such) within eyesight and out of danger while you do something? IF so, you need to let folks know you'd be bringing a child. If you do the running errands (shopping or such) so long as the child's in a car seat, that's irrelevant to the client, but if you were installing a ceiling fan, you can't really watch a hyper kid in someone else's house who may also have pets, a pool, stuff that he can pull down on himself, etc.

Lots of constraints for you.

Good luck.

well if your fit and have a truck people are always looking for haulers to move trash from house cleanings and other things it may be dirty but it pays and it probably won't be an everyday thing unless you advertise. Hey it's a couple extra dollars!

Have you tried selling on Ebay?, you'd be amazed at what people want. Also you could still do odd jobs. What about kitchen help at your local pub?

My daughter became a registered child minder (contact social services) and started a Pet Care Agency.
Her first child care was collecting a little girl from school, and taking her home till her parents could fetch her about an hour later. Since she had to collect her own daughter anyway this was an ideal little "job".
Then her first pet care job was walking a dog. She collected the dog on the way to collect the children and walked him back home again! Two payments for the same journey.
Then she started feeding pets at their homes while owners were away and taking small pets to live with her over their holiday (caged things like hamsters, and cockatiels)
She sold her Agency, eventually for a 4-figure sum.
2. The son of a friend started a serious grass-cutting business (Spring, summer and Autumn, obviously) with a van which had his name and contact number on it, but his regulars had him doing things like fence repairs, building a rockery etc in the Winter and this developed into a small landscape business. His grass cutting became not just a domestic trade but extended to larger firms who didn't want to keep a groundsman just to cut grass.

if you can drive and have a clean record then why not try taxiing, you get cash daily and can do it as little or as much as you want.only outlay is a taxi drivers badge from your local council, between about £100 and £300 depending on council

Well, if you have any skills for which a person would generally enlist the help of an expensive professional (say, a hobby like stereo installation, computer or automotive repair, carpentry, etc.) you can post an ad on your local craigslist page, or refer to that same page for postings for "gigs" which consist of odd one-time jobs that pay fairly well. The chief advantages of craigslist are that it comes at no charge, requires no registration, and is incredibly widespread.
