Mister Boob | What should I charge for my services, in £'s? |
How much should I charge to drive 12 miles, take 2 dogs for an hours walk, then drive 12 miles back - once a day, 5 days a week......in the North East of England. |

When pricing, your guide for what to charge should be based on what your customers are willing to pay. *Then* you should look at your costs and see whether it's worth it to work for that much money, or whether you should find something else to do. The easiest way is if there's a competitive market for whatever you provide, in which case you already know what your customers are willing to pay, because they're already paying someone to do it. I'm guessing that you're not the only dogwalker in the north of England. Of course you'll either need to lower your rates enough that people will fire whoever's already doing it, or to provide services that are more convenient, or to better advertise to people who aren't using your services. |

Remember it's your choice to travel 12 miles, dog owners are not really concerned about this, all they want is for you to excersise their dogs, suggest -1dog @£4( 2dogs same owner £5) x5= £25
or 1dog one owner =£4x5=£20
second dog ( another owner) =£4x5=£20
This sounds very reasonable as your fuel costs would be about £7.50
your nett gain around £32;50 for this particular task, not exactly hard work involved ! |

you have to know your customer, if you are talking about a particular one, how much money do they have? what is it worth to them? i had someone pay me £200 to go feed their cat and scoop its litter for weeks. which is actually ridiculous, but they offered.. |

work out your petrol and then say 6-7 pounds an hour? |
|

Well I would work out how much 24 miles will cost you in petrol, then charge say £5/6 per dog per hour and add them together.
So £50/60 per week plus petrol money xx |

Car costs 40p/mile = 24 x40p = £9.60
Min employment rate is £5.70 £6.00
====
Day £15.60
So weekly £78 |

Charge for the combined time of dog walking and driving, plus a reasonable amount for your fuel. |

I'd ask for £75 for the dog walking, that's £15 per day, and then ask them if they could give you an extra £25 towards your petrol. If they say NO, then ask for a compromise of £90 to include everything.
Money is scarce in the North East of England. |

id say something like £7 per dog per day |

Don't forget to charge for your driving time as well as your dog-walking time.
I would charge something like minimum wage for the driving time (plus 40p a mile), and whatever you think is sensible for the dog walking time. It depends how much of a chore it is. |
