Bamboo furniture. Bamboo is as strong as carbon fibre - can be laminated to make all kinds of furniture and it's light and so freight costs will be low. It is easy to move around when you are cleaning - and I haven't seen any good stuff in the UK.

I suggest importing handheld media devices and reselling them on Ebay. China's media device industry has progressed to the point where they can make quality devices but still lack enough innovative or brand equity to be able to charge a premium like Apple or Sony does. What is really attractive about their devices is that they are completely absent of the digital rights management and proprietary limitations built into devices from more well known international companies (think about how Apple makes it near impossible to get songs out of an iPod). For example, an mp4 player from Aigo will allow you to drag and drop most media formats into a folder on its disk, and then play (or view) directly without conversion. They also look stylish enough. They are perfect for people who want a completely free drag and drop media device, and they are inexpensive. Of course as other answerers have indicated, the manufacturing industry in China is a nebulous terrain, stick to Chinese companies that are working hard to build a trustworthy brand, such as Aigo. |

I asked my Hong Kong quality Control co this same question. I have been importing items on behalf of my clients through a company in Hong Kong. This company sources the factory and checks the quality. Anyway I asked what are they presently selling a lot of at the moment in the Uk. I was told of two products both of which are fabric-based (not clothes though). I don't want to publish this so email me for more info if you are serious.
Alternatively, you could identify a niche product that sells in the UK for a high premium and then get this made to your own requirements. By definition a niche product is something that sells in lower quantities and is not a viable option for the bigger players to get into, so they can't undercut you later. |

Saki is starting to become big, so Saki sets. I think womens tops are a great idea, or a selection of cute dresses. I buy chinese slippers all the time, they can be very cute. Fabrics like table cloths and throws would be a good idea. Think about things with some flavor but that would be work nicely in the average home. |
