EBay is a great marketplace provided it is exploited to the best potential. Lots of people sell on eBay and have become quite successful sellers.
The key to good selling on eBay is to find a right product and then presenting it appropriately to your prospective buyers. I would say you are working on the first element i.e. to find the right product for your online store. I suggest you look at this from a another perspective. Get something that is usually difficult to find in north america as most of the buyers are from us and canada. To make it even more easy for you, get something which is handmade i.e. handicrafts and there is no such place like india for this. you may contact intelliwear@gmail.com if you require any such items.
Besides this make sure you have a decent mix of products on your ebay store. 1-5 items will be good enough as selling many items takes concentration away.

Ebay has gotten to strict for me and it seems as if people aren't making alot of money any more... The only thing I see you making a good profit off of is something unique that you make that people might want or electronics... JMO

We make our product and have been selling on eBay for 6 years. We pull in nearly $30K anually. It's lots of work and don't let ayone tell you it isn't.
Find a product you know about; you have to answer plenty of questions regarding your product.
