What do you consider work? Is washing the dishes or raking the leaves work? As long as the work isn't dangerous and the child is regularly supervised, just about any age is working age. If he or she feels more involved with the family or learns the value of give and take, then asking them to do some work is worthwhile. Otherwise, the law says 15 with a working permit. |

In the state of PA, the starting age of workers is 14 on a farm.
From 14-16 you need a (farm) permet. Working after school untill 9pm and on weekend it is 7am-10pm with 2 1/2hour breaks From 16-18 you need a workers permit, after school upto 10 and from 7am- 12am on weekends. Depending on the state (Pa is five hours, Wv is six hours) for so many hours you are given a 1/2 break. And well, after 18 you can work as much and as hard as you want ( depending if work will give you more hours) |

depends...in NY state you can do Summer Youth when you turn 14 but most stores won't hire you until you turn 16. For both you need working papers. But I know in Southern and western state stores hire at 15 so it all depends on the state and store. |

i think it depends on where you live. here (virginia) you have to have a work permit until you're 16. at 16, you can get a job w/o a permit |
