We can all give you varying info but the best way for you to find out is to call your states licensing agency and ask them. That way the info is for your area not ours. |

Normally all businesses in a given municipality (city or township or whatever) require a license, because that is how the city collects local taxes on businesses - normally based on property and equipment owned by the business, employee payroll, and/or gross receipts. Being in your home does not relieve you of that. Depending on the type of business, you may need additional licenses, and normally the municipality can advise you about that. You can also start by talking to your local Chamber of Commerce - they often have free help for start-up businesses: that is what they do. |

some local governments and types of businesses require one, yes. others don't. still others deny any home business to which customers come or in which you receive more than one delivery per day. |

Yes, business licenses from the city and state are for all businesses. Depending on the business you may need other things like a health inspection or day care license. |

it depends on how much you will bring in . like babysitting if you just have a couple kids you dont need a license . if you have a yard sale you dont pay taxes . If it is one of those home based mail order things . no you dont . you put up money to join and they carry the license . just like Tupperware . now if and wen you begin making real money from it you need to set it up so that a percentage of your check will go into taxes . because if you jump up in monetary gain . they will jump on you |

I agree with poster Robert. Varies. Check with your local licensing requirements. |

Yes you need to have a business license. Some home based business's come with that in their start up fees, some you're required to purchase it on your own. Every year you have to renew your license. Again, some home based business's take care of this for you and some you have to renew on your own. |
