It is very easy to sign up for affiliate programs as long as you have a website that doesn't go against their policies (for example, some affiliate programs don't allow gambling sites, porn, etc.).
However, if you are new to affiliate marketing, it can be difficult to make money. First, you need a site that gets TRAFFIC. If you aren't getting visitors to your site, no one is going to buy.
I have provided a link below to a FREE, 165 page e-book called "Affiliate Masters Course". It is far better than most of the affiliate e-books out there and as I mentioned, it is free. You don't have to give them your email address or anything.
Also, I'd recommend checking out Site Build It (which is where the free e-book is from). They will help you build a site that gets traffic. check out the case studies there too.
And be sure you are familiar with what ever affiliate products you decide to sell. Either read the books or use the products. Otherwise, if you end up promoting bad items, your customers will never come back and they won't trust you. |

The place you have your website probably offers a number of affiliate programs. If you don't have a site yet consider www.christianwebhost.com for for affordable paid hosting. They offer a lot of free things from free domain name registration to free streaming audio and one can pay quarterly or even monthly so it is doable on a budget. If you need a freebie site try www.tripod.com Tripod is easy to build a site on and your buisiness name has more prominence in it than in many freebie places. For example http://yourbusiness.tripod.com as compared to http://www.hosting companyname/section/yourbusinessname
I know tripod also has many affiliate programs available. Pick ones that offer something that would appeal to ppl who come to your site and that are somewhat known names. For example Amazon.com has an affiliate program that is supposed to be well paying. You want to ask when you get your money and also how you get it Is it deposited in an account with them that has to build to some level before tou can get it and then there is a hassel or do you get a monthly check. Are you paid per click (for each person who clicks through from your site) or per sale? If you have never heard of them can they offer references?
Some affiliate programs will deal with domain name owners only - people who own their site as opposed to free site users. Others are open to anyone, some also seem to work only or mainly through the free site programs.
Promote your site by registering with services like www.addme.com, by checking out www.ineedhits.com, listing on search engines. If you are not familiar with metatags and key words check out a tutorial on that, Join a link exchange or several link exchanges. Ask friends, relatives, coworkers, enemies,. to visit your site in the first week or so that it is up so it has a good number of hits when the spiders come (spiders are search engine indexing net robots that help determine where your site shows upm in search engines). Join some message boards that relate to what you do or to other interests that you have and use a link to your site in your signature. |

From the way you worded your question, it sounds like you're trying to put the cart before the horse.
Do NOT look for affiliate programs to promote BEFORE you identify your target market.
You will have much greater success if you FIRST identify your target market and THEN look for a matching affiliate program to sell to that market.
For example: Amazon has a great affiliate program but signing up for it isn't going to help you earn money. However, if you do some market research and find that people keep talking about the new Digital Camera XYZ and it turns out Amazon stocks them, now you're on to something, because Amazon is a trusted name and you'll probably get multiple sales from your referral.
