If you are not wanting to work on line exclusively then the cheapest business to start is one where you provide a service which is your own labor and skill at first. This can be anything from a data entry service to hpuse cleaning to yard work to jewelery design to computer lessons to programming if you have and can demonstrate the skills and if needed the certiification. It should be something you enjoy doing and are good at. You would probably start part time or while you had another source of income or a working spouse so that you were not totally dependent on your new venture for survival until you have it where it is regularly bringing in money. Set your charges by calling similar businesses in your area and the surrounding area and saying what do you charge for doing ___. For a craft or product business go to places where these are sold and see what they charge. If you plan to sell on consignment figure that at least 40% of the retail price may go to the place you put it on consignment and be sure you have a written agreement with them covering every part of the deal including who pays or stands the loss for things they say they haven't sold but do not have there to give back to you, Be sure to figure all your costs including gas for delivery and supplies and any essential services like bookkeeping if you can not do it yourself. Then determine what will be left over to pay you. if you do not abslutely love what you will be doing think about a different business if your pay will not be at least minimum wage to start and 150% or minimum wage within a few months. However you may also want to look at what you save if you work from home such as commuting costs and maybe child care.

If you want to work on line look for a service you can do on line such as coinsulting on just about anything or programing or for a company that drop ships produicts for you (that is the orders go to them directly or through you and they send them out. That saves you warehouse space, shipping costs etc. However be sure the place is 100% reliable so that neither you nor your customers are ripped off.
