crimsonreign96_2 | Which home based businesses actually work? |
I am thinking about starting up a home based business as shown on most job sites. I am curious to know if any of you have done this before and how successful you were at it. How many hours did/do you work and how is the pay in relation to that? Please email me directly and let me know. Thank you. Additional Details Please note that this is not an invitation to solicit information about your own business. I am only seeking information only and will not go to your site. |

Hi!
Ok...I'm seeing a lot of these threads that are nothing more than a invitation for other people post links to their affiliate websites , links to to other scams and a complete waste of time.
Ok..are most home-based business opportunities scams? Yes..they are. it's real easily to spot them:
1) No or little investment
2) Work when you want to
3) Make (insert absurb amount of money) in weeks with no work!
While you sleep! Etc..etc.
I am aware of home-basedd businesses that work? Of course.
1) many accounting businesses operate out of their homes
2) Locksmiths
3) Small Engine repair
and many, many other that have worked for years from the home.
Now..the internet changes many things..but not the basics.
1) A real business takes time, effort and about three-five times the amount of money you think from the start
2) A real business succeeds because it is real..looks real. It advertises, It has a business phone and normal hours.
3) A real business is built on trust. Existing customers are more than happy to refer business to you..because a level of trust has been built of time..of doing what you said yuou would do..over time.
This could be a cleaning service...a lawnmowing service...whatever. Some small home businesses pay answering services to answer the phone after hours to give customers a human to talk to..not a machine. I hate VM.
Old fashioned? Yup. Does it make a difference? You better believe it does.
Bottom line is this: Does it seem too good to be true? 99.9% of the time..it is.
I am really surprised more people have not tried to build businesses that deliver groceries for busy people. I know even in my small time many people who would pay big $$$ for this.
How do I know? Talking to people. These real ideas don't come out of the air. They come out of something people are willing to pay for..something to make their life easier.
1) Find a need
2) See if you can fill the need
3) Do it..or don't do it.
That's what it's all about folks. |

Hi,
My wife's aunt is making between $10,000-$11,000 a month and we are on the same pace but this truly is not just about making money but having safe products in your home for you and your family. If you are interested in a home based business than you can e-mail us back at cleanandsafehome@yahoo.com and we can give you the details. We are not going to give all the hype that people look for but just tell you the truth. We don't sell, deliver or stock products. The name of our company that we work with is Melaleuca and we are proud to say their name. It is not a scam or an MLM company, it is a 500 Inc. company that care’s about people and enjoys paying them for referring people to them and it is as simple as that. It is truly a great story about this company. Let us know if you would like to learn more.
Thanks,
Rich & Teresa |

Most of the advertised work at home jobs are in fact people working out of their homes trying to sell you something. Such ads are even on Monster and Hot Jobs. The proven home-based business that work's the best is when you have identified a need, can size up your potential customer targets, and project income. Some of these include provide pet-sitting services, transcription, and special delivery services. If you have to pay someone for the "secrets" of starting a successful business at home, you are just going to get some cookie-cutter ideas and then have to figure out to make it work for yourself. Even if it says money-back guarantee, that does not mean anything. If your goal is to work for yourself, most people who are successful with, decide what they love doing the most and best, and then make sure there is a market for it. There are no quick get wealthy schemes and working from home is easier said than done. I telecommute for my company and there is a real gap in the social side of the work environment. I wish you a lot of luck, should you make the decision...consider the best and worst that could happen and that will give balance to your decision making. |

The question isn't "Which home businesses actually work" at all. The real question is "Am I willing to do what it takes to get to where I want to be?"
Many home businesses have been a huge success for many years, but very few people understand that it is only a vehicle for reaching your goals. You have to be driven, you have to be very clear on what you are looking for, or you will not have success.
You have to begin with the end in mind, and work at it every day, treat it like you just purchased a million dollar business, and in time you will indeed have a million dollar business! |

"Home-based businesses shown on job sites" are usually a rip-off. Those sites are set up to either harvest personal information for sale to telemarketers or to sell you some kind of "success kit".
In real life, successful home-based businesses get started because the owner has highly marketable skills, whether as a professional or a skilled craftsman. |

Watch out for scams like stuffing envelopes etc.
Doing accounting /bookkeeping or tax preparation
Script writing for advertising
Obviously the price is always negotiable and there would be a deadline for completion. . .so it is entirely up to you how much time will be devoted, however, the more time one puts into it the sooner the next assignment will start. |

eBay Powerseller

I started out 4 years ago with the same question and tried lots of things. I just wanted to be able to stay at home with my kids, but earn some money, too. eBay worked for me. You can get started with no financial investment, see how it goes, and grow the business as you are comfortable with it. It is easy, fun, profitable, and you can work around your family's schedule. You can work as much as you want/need to.
You may find this guide helpful in getting started on eBay. I wrote it to help others (especially Stay At Home Moms) get started on ebay. It is written from my own experience from selling for 4 years. I've sold about 12,000 items. I've learned alot along the way by trial and error and hope to save others some time and mistakes!
