ChgoLake | Which is a better business location? |
We are thinking of relocating our deli to another location. Where we are at now, there is no foot traffic but we have a loyal customer following. We are thinking of moving to a different location that has much more foot traffic, but we don't know if our current customers will follow us there. Which location do think is better for us. Thank you |

If your business is profitable at all where you are then leave it and open another location elsewhere. If you don't have the money to do this, then take out a loan. If you show a bank that you've been making money for at least 3 years in a row, you should be able to do this. Then you'll at least double your profits, and probably more if you get a better location. |

foot traffic is key to increasing business. you can stay where you are because there is a customer base but it will not have a chance to grow. |

For a full answer some more information would be useful. Are you going to be moving far from where you currently are? Doesn't sound like it, so that's a good thing in regards to your current customers. In terms of where you plan on moving to it may be an idea to go to that location with some samples of your food and see if people would be interested in trying your deli there. This is a good advert if you do move and it also means you can talk to people passing the area to see if its something the area needs. I suppose you've checked the area to look for competition? I think your best off going to the potential area your moving to and giving out samples and gaining feedback. You can in a way get a feel for the area and potential customers by doing this. Ultimately you should speak to your bank and see if they can give you some sound advice as moving to a new area tends to mean prices change etc.. |

Oh boy...that's certainly a dilemma. When it comes to restaurants, there's nothing like a loyal customer and nothing beats heavy foot traffic.
So, here's my opinion as a "loyal customer"...move to the foot traffic location. I've lived so many places and have always found great little restaurants, coffee shops and such where I just loved the food, fell in love with the owners, I even almost married a restaurant owner once (when I was in college, lol) I loved him and his food so much, but then>>>>>I MOVED! Left town, so long!
So, if your loyal customers are local to the high foot traffic location, bit the bullet and move. High traffic means the potential to gain more fans of your food, and your "true loyal customers" will follow you wherever. |

You may have a loyal customer base but you obviously don't have a good enough income otherwise you wouldn't consider shifting.
The best location these days is usually in a developed shopping center with high traffic flow of customers like in say a food court. This should be your goal.
The next best option is in the main busy section of strip shopping. Always choose the busiest side of the street as one side is always busier than the other.
If you can't get one of those locations then stay where you are until a lease opens in one of those locations.
Put your name down with agents straight away because its first in first served in top locations.
Expect to pay a much higher lease. But also expect a much higher return on your investment. |

As good business person thinking no need to re-locate your
business that might you think has a good income and have a lot of customer. The best possible solution is make another branch.
The best location where most people awake 24 hours. Thinking on the intersection of the road where the 4 roads connected means all people in and out on that 4 roads possible will be your customer. |

Do a comparison on the amount of people that you esitmate would come to each different location for, say, a month. Project the numbers by taking a sampling of how many customers come in during a week; and then do then same with the new location. You will have do be project much more with that one. You would have to have someone posted maybe during what your business hours would be, do a count, multiply it out. Compare. Also look at the access of one location vs. another. Is the customer more accommodated at one vs. another? |
