My husband worked for a guy like that for a long time while we were dating. After 7 years of only getting .25 and .50 raises another job came along. In a partime situation he worked 2 jobs for 2 years and then was offered full time. They give him nice raises and they appreciate all the money he saves them on a regular basis. Sometimes you just have to move on. Good luck |

I agree with you totally. You should still concentrate on doing a good job and developing your current employer as a good reference, but don't ever stop looking for the next better thing down the road. Even employers attitudes have shifted from looking at people who change jobs regularly as unreliable to looking at them as people who are motivated to succeed.
However, don't begrudge your owner his Bentley and ocean view windows. The beauty of America is that with hard work, a good idea, and a little bit of luck, you could be his neighbor some day. |

What kind of a job is this that you know what your owner is buying?
If you look for other gainful employment, keep the job you have while you look and give a notice. Don't ever leave a job on bad terms.
And, NO, you are not an independent contractor. You're just a paid hourly employee like most of america. Welcome to the job force. |

You should show loyalty to your employer because I assume you want a job.
But I get what you are saying about employers being completely unfair. Do you happen to work at walmart? They are famous for doing that kind of thing, although basically every employer is guilty. |

theres no harm in asking i would imagine, however your employer is allowed to ask u to come in and work, unless stipulated that you would ONLY work certain shifts. it sucks but if u didnt do it, he could fire you and have someone else do it. |

give it some time, try and be nice to him, maybe its a test
and if not and still treats you with no respect and gives you unscheduled time you should look for another job but don't quit until you are sure that you have a definite job. |
