They are all scams as you suspect. There are a few legitimate ones that were mentioned on ABC news. I can get the list if you want it. They are remote agent jobs... which means you answer the phone for large companies. They don't pay well.

Well alot of them are but there are some good ones out there too. You have to do your research and due diligence. Some are easy and some are more difficult and most take sometime to develop. Try your best to check to see what others are thinking about a program if you can, Make sure they are reputable and that you can actually talk to the people involved.
I've just got involved with an internet advertising company that I have been researching for over two weeks. Everything checked out fine. I've been to about 10 or so meeting so that I got a good understanding of how the program worked, how it paid, what the future of the company looks to be and what others were saying about the company.. It really looks good. They have plans to be one of the largest internet advertising companies in the world and it looks like they are on target to do just that. There are 5 areas you need to look at when doing a such thing.
1. The Company- how long has it been around.
2. The Need- how needs it.
3. The Product- is it something they will keep.
4. The Compensation- is it going to keep paying.
5. The Timing- it is NOW!
If what you are looking for fits into one of these then you have a good legit business

I'm not sure if you're looking for an at home "job" or an at home career or business but more and more people are looking to join the on-line work from home businesses where they can enjoy tax benefits, flexible hours and the freedom of being their own boss while earning a residual income.
Not only is it a lifestyle and source of financial freedom, people are enjoying the added benefit of being able to be around their family more than if they were out "at" a job, something that is once again becoming important to society even though we all need that second income while raising our children.
If that's something that you're looking into, then start figuring out what the current market trend is, find something in that trend that excites you....something you'd really enjoy doing and start researching companies from there.
Of course there are scams out there so you want to beware of that "get rich quick" and "pay us this amount of money and we'll show you how" sort of thing. Look for one that has a low start up cost as opposed to the ones that want huge dollars up front.
Of the companies that appear to be legitimate, check out what they're offering you and if that fits what you want, and if it does, then look even harder - inside and out - at that company. Find out what kind of training and ongoing support they'll offer you as well as that can be such a crucial point to your success.
Once you're satisfied that everything is above board, then go for it! The trend is swinging very quickly to on-line home based businesses and it can be very lucrative.

99.99999999% off all of them out there are. Most likely any of the ones you get on here will be too. The select few that are legitimate, you are going to have to research on your own. If you don't know how to determine if they are legitimate or not, read up on some personal finance books. In time, you will understand more and more and you will eventually realize what is a scam and what isn't |

Are you looking for a job or a business?
If you are looking for a job, then yes, anyone who requires you to pay money upfront is most likely a scam.
If you are looking for your own business, then there should be some start up costs. I do not of any business owner that invested nothing to get started.
Unfortuantely, there are a lot of scams out there (SMC, Jeff Paul, Data Entry, etc....)
I have an online business that I run. It costs me money to do so, but it is well worth it. I do not make a fortune, I average about $2300 a month in profit, after expenses....but it is nice extra income.
I found the business online, checked theie company out (BBB) and got started.

If you want to start a home based business, there will be fees involved and business expenses. There are many legit business opportunities out there in direct sales, multi-level and network marketing. There are great companies to work with, but having a business isn't for everyone.
