Superman | Would you be interested in a store that picked up garbage furniture, fixed it up, and sold it for little? |
Everything would look fashionable, but clearly refurbished. many of the "fixes" will be ingenuitive and inexpensive--but everything will be painted over to look good. Also, i would buy new cushions to attach to sitting furniture, so that everything is comfortable. People can also bring in their broken stuff to be fixed.

I wonder how well this would work. You may consider coming from a "fine art" angle and sell for a higher price. Used furniture is universally known as relatively undesirable and quite cheap, so I would guess that you'd have to do something significant to change that perspective. What would make someone love your merchandise, maybe even be proud of it?
Regarding college campuses, would you consider renting your refurbished furniture, say for the same price you have listed above per semester or school year? Maybe you could build a reputation as always having what people needed (so students could concentrate on drinking beer and eating pizza instead of seaching all the thrift shops for a recliner and coffee table) and possibly a service to have it delivered? |

Yeah, I would. Your basic premise is the same as Good Will or Salvation Army, except that you intend to make the furniture look nice again, or fix any broken parts. |
