no, after all its a traditional trade and "pubs" are disappearing too fast, replaced by sterile or theme bars.. But I would advise them to research the pub and area they were looking at? I know we once looked at this and my sister holds a licence, we looked around but certainly at this time do not have enough money behind us... I think it would depend on what brewery was sponsoring the pub? A free house would be good? But hard work, needing a huge commitment too.. I would try to be supportive. |

It is just a metaphore, The important thing is plan your bussiness I no that the return on investment will take time but as long you have the fortitude to open a bussiness go. Having concerns is normal in a bussiness the important thing is to forecast them so you can prepare for them. |

Just think how much free alchohol you could get if your family ran a pub. |

years ago my family made a good living out of owning their own pubs, but now, managed pubs are becoming like any other trade, more competitive etc etc, catering was always a good mark up, but if they have imagination and can run it well and get a excellent reputation, they would do well... however if its just a normal run of the mill pub.. then all that hard work for say the same pay as any other job, it would be their choice... individuality is the key. |

Give them support in turning your Theory Around. The industry Changes all the time and you have to keep on top. I want to go back to running pubs now i know the great British Pub is in Peril. Mental Hospitals will be a lot fuller if the British Pub becomes a thing of the past. |

It's your chain pub trade that's killing the business. Bit like Tesco's versus the little corner shop. But then what do you care, greed's more important these days. |

No, I would suggest that they sell other stuff along side beer that has much bigger profit margins like space rockets and speciality cheese. And other things that people might be tempted to spedn their money on when they've had a few jars. I would wish them luck and every success. They can always go to a mental institute another time!!! |

If I was certain that their decision wasn't going to create any financial risk for me, I'd encourage them and look forward to the free drinks and the lock-ins. I'd also suggest topless bar staff. |
