i'd rather run a marathon with my feet tied together. the work involved in running a pub far outweighs any job satisfaction. and you have to listen to the smokers crying because they cant light up inside. then theres the" moan about the government " brigade, and drunks. tut tut. and you never get a day off. no. i'll stay on the right side of the bars thanks |

What is a pub now? Certainly not a place to make money.
I havent been in a pub since the smoking ban, nor have any of my friends.
The latest bit of news I heard (Birmingham area) was that the police had raided a local pub , looking for 'binge drinkers'! Binge drinkers? Whats that then? Some one wanting to get drunk?
So no more getting drunk in a pub?
Best not to sell booze in a pub anymore then? They should all be converted to mini amusement centres, kids allowed in, fizzy pop on sale only.

No. I've worked in several pubs so i know the amount of time and effort that goes into running a pub. It's not just a job, it's a way of life. You're working most of the day every day, choose whether it's behind the bar, cleaning the lines, doing the books or throwing out pissed up idiots at kicking out time. But, if I had the money, I wouldn't mind buying a pub. I'd just get some other clown to run it so I could come and go as I please. |
