Would you spend the money to put your dog in a doggie daycare/hotel/spa?
I'm looking to starte a doggie hotel/daycare/spa in my area. How many of you would bring Fido to such a place either to stay while you were on a business trip or for the day while you were at work? Would you pamper your pet in the spa? Just curious to know what people think of this idea.

I would do it, but they won't take her.

Sophie is a little anti-social. (Doesn't play well with others.)

There is a very kewl place near us called "Camp Bow wow". They have you bring your dog in first to be "evaluated". Sophie didn't pass muster.

Look up Camp Bow Wow on the internet. Their web site tells/shows everything they have alvailable. It might give you some ideas you want to incorporate into your business.

They even have web cam, so you can watch your dog at play on the computor wherever you are.

ntce14
i would not bring my dog there but im sure many other people would.

BETSY
I adore my 5 tiny doggy's! They are my life!

But, I certainly would not blow my money on that doggy daycare junk! I worked in kennels & I know what it's really like!
They are dogs - not people.

Lord no!

I wouldn't ever- I'd have a friend watch the pet, and I don't "pamper" animals...

MominOC
Why not-assuming you get a good feel for thye place

i know a lot of people who uses pet hotels and spa when they go on vacation.

I have placed my dog in a doggie day care before.

Here was the situation...we were selling our house and both my wife and I worked full time. We couldn't be there to remove our dog incase somebody was viewing the house. So, we put our dog in daycare. We did this last year and I think the cost was something like $16 a day. Our dog was a little overweight so she started losing weight which was a great benefit. We moved elsewhere and they don't have doggie daycares here, or I would.

I wouldn't pamper my pet in a spa.

I put my dog into boarding when we go on vacation some times. Often, we buy a bath the day of pick up. I usually pay a little extra for her to get a treat a day and to get some individual attention.

You might market your services to real estate agents for the scenario I described above. Real estate agents often get asked the qustion about what do I do with my pets and now they would have an answer...send them to you. You could drop brochures off at Vet clinics.

I have one other thing that might help you...Check out this success story for Google adwords. It's about a doggie day care business and their success...

https://adwords.google.com/select/success/happyhound.html

Good luck!

Codys mom
doggie daycares are very popular these days. I prefer to keep my dog with me. When I'm away I ask my friends to care for my dog. This is mainly because my dog is not neutered and I am planning to breed him and most doggie daycare places require the dogs to be fixed.
So if you know anyone that wants to breed their female chocolate colored cockerspaniel-poodle mix and wants a stud service let me know!

Check and see what people do with their pets right now. If they say they are leaving them with a friend or family member, ask them if leaving them at a doggie daycare/hotel/spa has ever crossed their mind. If you do that you will get a good idea if the people in your area would be interested. Hope I've been a help!

I love animals and everything, but I would not do something like that. If I wanted to spoil my pet (which I know I would) I'd figure out a less extravagant way to do it. Sure, I'd find a really nice kennel or something if I had a dog and went away for awhile, but I think what you're describing is a little extreme.

If you do go through with this, make sure you do it in a place that has LOTS of money to spend on unnecessary luxuries and services. A place like Beverly Hills for example.

LovelyLaugher
I wouldn't but there is one of those in my neighborhood that seems like its doing well. Survey the area you want to put your business.

Yes! I would do anything for my little darling doggy. She is so spoiled. I even have her own nail polish. I would take her to a spa and get her a massage and I take her to the salon. She gets her hair done and her nails done and little bows tied in her ears. If I could I would get her ears pierced. She has a collar with real indian crystals. I want to get her a new on that has real pearls and feathers.

STATE OF HOCKEY BABY!

Yes, my mom put my dog in a pets mart dog sitting thing but it wasn't a spa. We bought him play times and stuff like that but yeah, people do it. I know many people do this because they get filled up pretty quick during the busy seasons.
