No, if your parents claimed you, you will not get the check. We just had this discussion with my stepson a few weeks ago. However, he still lives at home with us, we pay his school (his mom pitches in for books) and the only thing he pays for is his car payment and entertainment.
Our accountant who did our taxes said we could only claim him if we provided at least 50% of his financial support. Obviously, we do, so we were okay to claim him. If your parents are sending you money that equates to covering half your living expenses, then they were right to claim you. If they are sending you less than that, or nothing at all, then they should not have claimed you.
I'm sorry, but this really pisses me off. My dad did the same thing to me when I was in college. I know it's a huge tax burden for the parents when their kids become independant, but they should see what a tax burden it is for you to try to live on $13,000 a year while paying for your own school.
Other than amending your taxes and turning your parents in for tax fraud, there's nothing you can do this year, and yes, you are SOL for the stimulus check, but tell your parents next year that you are claiming yourself as independant, and if they try to claim you, they will have to prove to the IRS that they are still supporting you. |

no, since your parents claimed you. |

Nope. If your parents claimed you, even though you made $ and had to pay taxes, you won't get a rebate. I'd sure be asking your parents to share though.... |

Nope, even if you filed your taxes you wouldn't get it because you were claimed as a dependent on someone else's tax return. |

no, but why are your parents still claiming you? It's only $1500 for them, yet if you were a dependant you'd get 3 times that in grants alone. Go fill out your FASFA as SOON as you get your tax return. Very stupid move by your parents, ESPECIALLY if they are paying for your schooling in any way.
edit: didn't read the whole thing. You have basicly been swindeled by your parents. They got $1500 out of you and it seems you have NO GRANTS of any kind. You get 2k a year for the Pell Grant alone. |

Dependants do not get the stimulus check, regardless of age or circumstances. Your parents will not get any money for you either. To get money for dependents, the dependent must be under age 17 during 2007. Your fiancee might get one, however, depending on circumstances. The IRS has a link to answer a lot of questions like this on their homepage at www.irs.gov. |

No. You didn't file taxes, so your name will not be in the IRS's system, and no check will be sent to you. |
