A bank paying 3percent montly on savings on 50000 what would that work at thanks?

I think what you mean is 3% per annum, paid monthly. Assuming that it's 3% net, which is likely in the UK given current interest rates, it's £1500 divided by 12, so £125 per month.

ill take a guess its 3% annually paid monthly so 125 per month.

Hello,
The answer would be to multiply 50,000 x 3% = 1,500.00 the first then, 50,000 + 1,500 = 51,500 x 3% = 1,545.00 the next month
then 51,500 + 1,545 = 53,045 x 3% = 1,591.35 the next and so on.

Hope that helps, the question does say monthly however interest is usually calculated on an annual basis.

tarakia
Well if it was paying you actually 3% a month it would be £1500 a monthly, but that is unlikely, 3% a year would be £125.00.

gavmel259
50000 x 0.03 = 1500

This will give you the interest paid.

you would be very lucky to get 3% a month you are luck to get 6.5 a year

It depends how often the interest is compounded and what period of time is involved.
Also your question is not clear. Do you mean it is compounded monthly at 3% per month or do you mean at 3% per annum which would only be 3/12 of 3% per month.

If a bank paid 3% per month, that would be 36% in a year, and no bank pays anything like that.

To calculate it for one year at at 3/12 of 3% compounded monthly the formula would be [(1+.0025)^12] X 50000. That is that you raise 1.0025 to the twelfth power, and multiply it times $50000.

In excel it would be =(1.0025^12)*50000

Dub_Station
1500 per year, but that may be taxed so it could be lower

At a guess £125.00 per month, but I think the banks APR would have an effect too.

good luck finding a bank that pays 3 percent monthly.

Thje question really doesnt make all that much sense though

try wording it better an i will answer it
