My aunt did my family's taxes for me. I'm 20 years old and my aunt filed me as independent because I'm in school and moved out of my parent's house and pay my own bills. I got my tax refund back months ago and I'm pretty sure I got that paper that said I was getting a stimulus check too, however I don't know where that is and I haven't gotten a stimulus check yet. My friend is pretty much in the same boat and hasn't gotten his yet either. I read an article somewhere saying that a large percent of people my age haven't been getting their stimulus checks yet....what's up with this?!? Am I getting one or not!!?? Who can I call or how can I find out?
By the way...we filed our taxes on time; we weren't late. |

Are you sure you are eligible? Enter your info at http://www.irs.gov/app/espc/start.do to check. From your question, it sounds like you probably are, but check to be sure.
Check http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=180... to see if it has any info for you. If it says it was sent weeks ago, then call the IRS to report that you never got it.
If you are eligible but efiled close to 4/15, or mailed your return after mid-March, or filed an amended return, or had anything on your return questioned, that would delay your stimulus check.
You can call the IRS and ask - expect to be on hold for awhile, they're getting a lot of calls these days.

you'll see a link to the irs.
it'll ask for your social security number, number exemptions (1 if you're single) and your filing status.
and then they'll tell you when you should have received it.
Remember, they're still sending them out. If you call the IRS they'll tell you the same, and you'll be on hold for 90 minutes. |
