The present statutory minimum in the UK is 24 days per year - which includes bank holidays.
It will rise in 2009 to 28 days including bank holidays. So assuming you are not working bank holidays then 19 days is below average, but above the minimum. |

when do you people ever get any work done? - you're off from work so much! In the US, we work 40 hrs/wk to be considered full time (plus unpaid lunch hr), so we're at work 8-5 and you have to work at the same company like 16 yrs to get 20 days of vacation each year. If you work less than full time, you usually don't get any paid vacation days |

I work 30 hour weeks and get around 195 days off.
Can anyone guess what job I've got?
That's right! I'm a student, still in school, and still enjoying it. Come to think of it, don't teachers get roughly the same amount as well?
Ok, they start school earlier, and finish later, but they still get all the weekends and the holidays off!
Personally, I think a teaching job is perfect if you like to spend time off. |

if you are a full timer then you shud get 4 weeks hol or anotrher way to look at it is if you work a 5 day week you get 20 days but if you work a 4 day week you get 16 days.. this changed last month to 24 days and will rise to 28 days over the next 2 years .. this is all pro rata of course and takes account of things like bank hols which you shud allow for in your 20 or 24 days..

I work 36 hour weeks and get 31 days but I do get extra because I have been there for over 5 years and do a management job.
I used to work 20 hour weeks and got 28 days pro rata which means that they gave me my holiday in hours used to get 96 hours. Some of this was bank holiday hours as I had to make them up...
If this is any help.
However your annual leave may be set by the company so you need to check with your HR department. |

Everyone is entitled to four weeks paid leave, however long each week is. It is usually worked out in hours if you dont work five full days per week. So you should get 4 x 34.35 hours which is 137.4 hours. So if this equates to the nineteen days your ok. If not you need to complain. (if you work about 7 and a bit hours a day, youre getting the right hols) |
