Anyone ever used H&R block?
What does it cost? What do you need asside from w-2? Do they cut you a check on the spot?
Additional Details
well, I am a college student and want some money. I already have my forms filled out from turbo tax and know my return ammount. I just do not want to wait around for a month or two until I get a check in the mail from the govt.

They're costs vary, but they can be extremely spendy. You don't need anything other than your identification and w-2. They can cut you a check on the spot (if you're approved) but that will cost at least $200. They take it out of your refund, so you don't have to spend anything up front. I have used them the past few years because I like they're guarantee, if you end up owing more, they pay the difference.

Yeah, but they SUCK. I got more back by doing my OWN taxes.

carolinethefierce
They did about 5 minutes' worth of work & charged me CDN$70. My taxes weren't complicated back then, & even the guy there said I should learn to do my own taxes.

Yes, I've used them the past 3 years. I doubt I'll use them again because their customer service has gotten pretty bad. Their software isn't the best, either.

corzich
Yes, and it blocked the other 24 letters too. Thats what I call value!

I would not trust H&R Block, or anyone else who is not a CPA. If you can't afford a CPA, and you can't figure it out yourself, then there are places you can get free help. And why are you asking this question in April and not February?

I used TaxAct online and filed electronically for only $9.95. If you have the refund electronically deposited to your checking or savings account, you can get your refund back quickly without paying for an anticipation loan.
