Paul B | Anyone think house prices will start to rise again in uk in new year? |
|

It does not look very likely, historically one might expect no rise for at least 2-3 years. |

yes, in certain areas.
In 2000 you could buy a 2 bed flat round here for £75k The same flat now is £160k, having dropped by £15k in the last couple of months.
They wont drop to anything like the prices in 2000 because of greedy buy to let people who push up the prices of homes for poeple who just want somewhere affordable to live.
I wouldn't buy a bundle of bricks and mortar for any more than what it costs to build. £90k max.
Now the banks are guaranteed by the government, they will start lending again, and therefore the mortgage rates will start to reduce slowly, and thus house prices increase to counter for the quantities of mortgages available.
Blame Thatcher for all that. |

Current forecasts are that the housing market won't pick-up again untill around 2010, but the housing market fluctuates in different areas. |

we had sold out house recently and the estate agent said that the house prices will rise slowly again between 09/10
but we sold our house for £210,000 & found this beautiful 6 bedroomed house for £100,000 which is abit odd but still we bought it anyway & we have all that money spare to do anything up. |

Not until the US/World economies stabilize. That will be at least a year or two, if we're lucky and the Dems get back in power in the US. |
