the law recently changed and it is now only cars that were registered before 1st Jan 1973. This is according to the DVLA website. sorry, i think it makes more sense to have it as an age of a vehicle not a fixed date in time

No it cars registered before 1973 that are classed as Historic vehicle are exempt from road tax.

Not any more,it was introduced in the nineties but the government realised that they were losing money so they put the road tax back on,also they had to consider the amount of older cars that were being put back on the road was increasing,and it just wouldn't do, what with all this global warming and greenhouses and things.

25 years i think you will find. Go to the vehicle licensing website and it will give you all the info that you need. www.dvla.gov.uk

Only when they get to be "Vintage" which is 25 years.

25 years old makes them "vintage" and that means that no tax is needed.
