The 17th....

Correct, the due date is extended because the 15th is a Sunday, then extended another day because 4/16 is a holiday in Washington DC, so the deadline this year isn't until Tuesday 4/17.

As crazy as it is, every tax return must be postmarked by April 17th for this year 2007. Logically you would think April 16 since the 15th falls on a Sunday, but for some kind of holiday in Washington D.C., the IRS made it the 17th.

The 17th, check irs.gov to verify.

Taxes are due on Tuesday April 17th, 2007 due to a holiday in Washington D.C. and Goverment offices will be closed on Monday April 16th and also Sunday April 15th, 2007. The holiday is not a National holiday, just a D.C. holiday!!!

Preferred Tax
They must be postmarked or electronically filed by April 17th. If you file electronically, it must be accepted by your software provider by the 17th. However, not the following below, your particular software provider may differ slightly:

Returns transmitted to your software provider by midnight on April 17, 2007 (your local time) will be considered timely filed by the IRS, provided they are not Rejected by your software provider.

If you transmit a return to your software provider by midnight April 17 your local time and the return is Rejected by Agency (the IRS), the return will retain the April 17 postmark and will be considered timely filed if you retransmit the corrected return by Sunday, April 22, 2007.

Taxes are due April 15th unless that day falls on a weekend or holiday. April 15th is a Sunday this year, which pushed the due date to April 16th. And because April 16th is a holiday in Washington DC, the due date was pushed to April 17th. So make sure that your return has been postmarked by that date. Also, if you file a state return, make sure that your state has changed their filing date as well.

it really doesn,t matter when its due, file or pay it and quit asking a dumb ques.
