Are we getting a bit fed up with tax upon tax ?
Hi,

For example, I pay Income tax on earnings, NI contributions (another tax), then use the money to pay VAT, import tax on a car, then taxed for using it on the road, in a sticker on the windscreen, and a considerable amount in fuel tax, more VAT on the MOT

It goes on and on.

We are used to it, and are in trouble with the tax-collectors if we don't pay up.

I know we need taxes to keep the services up & running, but are we becoming a bit fed up with with sneaky taxation ?

i am getting very taxed by these questions,,,,
a very rich man once said,,,only the poor pay taxes,,,,,
how right he was,
the gov will "look at compensation in october"for extra fuel costs and loss of 10p income tax(hurray hurray i cant wait while costs go thru the roof NOW)
Darling says we cannot cancel the abolition of the 10p income tax as Brown included it in last years budget,,,,but he can come up with an extra £50bn to bail out building societies/banks at the drop of a hat...
if mps have known about it for a year why are they suddenly rebelling,,,why didnt they do it sooner
sorry i forgot Northern Rock more billions to take debt into public ownership while screwing the shareholders....
did i miss something Darling?

.....'getting a bit fed up'.........I think everyone's GOT fed up with this stinking government's tax policies. There's sod all we can do about it, until two years hence, but will people remember and get rid of them.

D
Im now taxed on my pension.

teddy
we in UK are almost the highest tax paying country in the world. . And New Labour who one would have thought would be tax cutters, help the poor etc have introduced over 500 stealth taxes since coming to power. If only the tax that you do pay went some way to making peoples lives better but it doesn't. We now pay twice the council tax since they came to power and are penalised for every little enjoyment that one has, punished i should say. I confess that i love my country but there are times when i seriously would like to move.

Timothy A
Tax under this government has dramatically increased and we are getting completely fed up with the ever increasing taxes. Stealth taxes have increased more than any other country, the money that is payed goes towards keeping the politicians greedy life styles.

Superbun
We need a general election NOW! Brown has made a pigs ear of everything, the country is rapidly going to pot and we are all going to end up in poverty! A drastic change is needed in the government.

Vote LABOUR OUT, VOTE DAVID CAMERON!

- Sorry for shouting :-)

malibugirl
It really winds me up. We are taxed on everything and then taxed again! Anything we need, have or enjoy is taxed! The final straw for me was adding a tax on some flights apparently because of the environement! WTF! That isn't exactly going to stop the planes flying is it? So what does it actually achieve? More money to line the politicians fat cat wallets, thats what!

ronnie m
Don't forget that you even pay VAT on the duty levied on alcohol and fuel!

Another one that slipped by is that the upper earnings limit on National Insurance contributions increased by £100 per week so if you earn £770 a week then you lose another £10 in NI conts. It's not just the 10p tax payers who have lost out.

Taxed to the hilt with stealth taxes,,,,no wonder people are leaving in their droves,,

Let me tell u something
So? There is nothing we can do about it anyway.

steffi
Yes, both direct and indirect taxation has increased vastly under this Government. It also happened under Harold Wilson's Government, but that was so long ago that people forget, and the new generation of voters weren't around. That Government, too, poured money into black holes. Think farm subsidies as an example.
This will always happen with the Labour party, with whatever fancy name they try to re-invent themselves.
Kick them out at the next General Election!

Well, said Alberto
"Of all debts, men are least willing to pay taxes. What a satire is this on government !"

Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote that. Haven't a clue what he meant but it sounds flash.

I dunno.... we need to pay a fair share of tax but at the moment there just seems no end to it. I'm earning more than I ever have but I am still barely keeping pace with inflation & I don't have any expensive habits !

Tax,Tolls,Fees,Gas,Food...and the money you receive always has to go towards something else. Dont even get me started I live in NY. Its a dead end road- and the toll is your life.
