Everyone on here will probably say "yes," and I must admit that taxes are a royal pain in the rear for me as well. However, those taxes go to pay for the roads I drive on, so I can't complain too much. I think a lot of money is wasted at the federal level, but it could be SO much worse.

Compared to other countries no. According to my bank account YES!

?
Yes, the average American works until March just to pay his or her taxes. Plus the top 1% of all wage earners pay over 50% of all the taxes.

Puzzleman
Not only are we paying too many taxes, we are paying too much in taxes.
I doubt if anyone on Q & A can give a figure for the *number* of taxes (+/- 10%) that are levied upon us by federal, state, county entities.

bostonianinmo
Compared to most other industrialized nations in the world, we're getting a major bargain on our taxes. Then again, we're not getting as much for our tax dollars, either.

No. Here is why, the US government is running a deficit, which means they spent more than they take in. No doubt a lot of government spendings are going to waste, but we are already too used to having our street cleaned, our school cheap, having police and firemen and whatever left in the social security. Of course, government can cut all these program and in turn reduce taxes, but then you just pay for everything yourself. In other words, there is no way out.
