Well the dole is benefits a bit like the welfare system in the u.s.a but in the u.k the government pays you money every 2 weeks to help you find work and make sure you have money to live on basically.Its not allot of money though maybee £118 every 2 weeks thats £236 dollars every 2 weeks,well thats how much i get |

I had a good job which I started in September. However, I left my abusive partner in October and went to stay in a women's refuge with my youngest son, as we had nowhere else to go. After realising I would be there some months, the staff at the refuge advised me that the cost of staying there would be prohibitive - twice my monthly salary in fact. I had no choice but to leave work and sign unemployed as I couldn't afford to stay there otherwise. Thankfully, my employer has said when I get sorted out I can reapply for my job back. Til then I have to try and manage on basic money, as well as having to replace everything I lost when I moved - and that was everything!Fingers crossed! |

your talking silly,its no ones fault your on the dole,you have to think of what it is you want to do ,what you want out of life,there are lots of jobs out there,you have to go find them,im sure your intelligent enough not to blame the system,brush your self down hold your head up,and think of something you really like doing,in case you are wondering i come from a family of workers,i havent got much but what i have got iv worked hard for,and if i lost my job tomorrow id strive for better,good luck |

I was, it was horrible and degrading. People always stereotype people on the dole as lazy people who just cant be bothered to work and want money for free. though that is the case with ALOT of people on the dole but some peopel dont realise that for alot of people its a last resort. I had left college with 2 a levels and 9 gcses and no one wanted me because I had not much experience I applied for jobs every few weeks and it took me atleast a year to get a decent - ish job. It was either the dole or sponge off my own parents who work hard and pay taxes, atleast i got back some of what they were paying. |

Nope good luck with the job thing though.....maybe you could start up your own business then you wouldnt have to worry about being out of work again??? Im sure you would be entitled to financial help to do so!!! Good luck anyways!!! |
