So Cute.... | As a in home childcare provider, what happens if a parent files taxes before me, giving false amount to IRS? |
I dismissed a parent that was taking advantage of me.They would not respect my days off and lied about having to work on holidays(they are Army).I gave some receipts during the 10 months that I kept the child and at times I didn't.I do know about how much they paid during the 10 month period .The parent requested my info for taxes after I quit due to,not only throwing their kid over my home on my off days but she started cursing in my house in front of my kids.I kicked her out my home and told her never to return. The next few days they tampered with my magnetic signs on my car, destroying one(I have police report) and my brother saw them do it as he was driving my jeep at that time for a errand. Now I know they are not going to dare contact me with a police arrest on them but I fear they will fabricate to the IRS and claim that they paid more than I am going to file. What can be done in a situation like this? |

File the amount you were paid. Don't worry about them. If the IRS contacts you, show whatever you have (bank deposits, receipts, etc) to prove what you were paid. |

They might - they sound like real jerks. You should just file what you were actually paid (by them or by anyone else whose kids you watched). If they file something different, you'll hear from the IRS questioning it - tell them the truth. They'd have to come up with receipts or other proof of payment to make their case - so THEY could end up being in trouble over it if they do.
Tell the truth, and don't worry about it. |

It sounds like you will have everything you need if you are audited. Just file a proper return and let the chips fall where they may. |

You file properly, if they lie and the IRS catches them they get into trouble not you. Save all the pertinent info as if an audit is to occur you may be called on to give info proving that you have followed all rules. Good luck!!!!! Have you gotten a protection order? You may want to consider it for the safety of your family and any other children you may have in your home, just in case their anger with you escalates!!!! |

Wow, what a mess. When you send your information to the IRS and the parents, do the very best you can to make sure everything is documented to the best of your ability. There is only a certain amount the parents can deduct any way. I would not worry about it because you are not setting out to be fraudulent. The IRS has the responsibility to resolve any discrepancies. Then, if it's every investigated, it becomes a she said/she said case. Whoever has the best documentation will prevail. I'm sorry these folks have you all tied in knots. Do the best you can and don't worry about it any more. |

you are the one with the job you are the one that needs to file correctly- if you get audited (which may not even happen) make sure you have the info you need to prove what was paid to you
and don't worry about what they file they will need to prove you wrong |

carry all your records with you to the tax preparer. once they total what you owe . anything they say is one them , if a lie is counculated on there behalf and then you file you will get your money back and they will owe the irs for what they claim they were due when they were not . so dont worry ok |

Yikes, they sound like creeps. Immature ones at that. Nothing will happen. Where is their proof that you worked how every many hours? Where is yours? Unless there is some serious documentation I wouldn't worry. |

First of all, even though you understandably hate their guts, you should have prepared the final statement of what you'd been paid and handed them a "printout" along with a W-10 on the day you "dismissed them." Then you should have kept a copy on file and mailed it to them again January 1st. (If you still have their address, mail it tomorrow. Nothing fancy, just a W-10 and a printout with "for your records for 2007" at the top.
They do have the right to claim child care that they did in fact pay for and the printout is merely being professional. (It encourages them to use the matching, correct amount with the IRS, too.)
If they file and ignored such a printout or make up a number without having a printout, yes, you could eventually get mail from the IRS asking to discuss the discrepancy. At that point, you fax a copy of the printout to the IRS.
Even if it goes further than that, your records are correct for not only this family but the other families you provided care for. They also match your bank statements and your business records. You'd withstand any audit.
You will be able to show that for the other children you cared for, you charged X per day. For this parent you also charged X per day and you have accounted for all Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays as well (I hope you billed them 2x or 3x for a holiday!). |

I am ask you question, What happen if friend lie to IRS that their children put in child care and getting big money but they NEVER put children in child care. Will they going trouble? Because My friend told me that her boyfriend say Yes, He put 2 children in child care and IRS gave him more credit, and he earn over $7,000 dollar. In fact, He never put 2 children in child care because he never trust people. he had his girlfriend take care children. All he got $7,000 to buy a car. Not for kids. What will happen? |
