Besides Income tax, how many other taxes Does the gov. collect on the public?
You pay ss, medicare, Income tax, gas tax, Taxes on the useage of you phone, does anybody know how many other taxes you pay th the state and federal government, and how many of the taxes is congress trying to raise again? It seems like our government is a lot deeper in our pockets than people realize

Property taxes is another big one you missed. Thanks to all the smokers who overpay so the rest of us don't have to.

What we need is a tax on something, so that we can start a federal agency that counts the number of different tax sources that are currently being taxed.

Can't say for America but in Britain they have just taxed everything except air.

in the US, virtually everything is taxed somehow.

the tax philosophy is to tax everything at relatively low levels so that the incentive to dodge paying tax is small.

in fact, government consumes 25% or more of the entire economy [about 18% Federal government and an average of 7% state and local government], so you can pretty well expect that 1/4th of your entire income goes to taxes one way or another.

Don't forget all the "excise taxes" and "fees" (look at any phone or cable bill).

Income Tax, Employment tax, Excise Tax on numerous things, Estate and Gift Tax, Alcohol and tobacco tax, wagering tax, Sales Tax, Property tax, special district taxes, timber tax (at least here in California), syntax.

Before you complain too loud, on balance, the United States has the lowest total tax burden of any western industrialized nation. Belgium is the highest.

if money goes towards it you pay a tax. If they could figure out how to tax for the air we breath or words we speak just me it would be taxed.
