♥FAIREST♥OF♥THEM♥ALL... | British Citizens: What do you feel is the reason that we are having to pay so much for taxes etc? |
I'm not being Racist, but i feel that part of it is to do with all the Immigrants coming into the country, we are having to pay for housing, benefits etc and jobs are going to them as they are willing to work for less money.
What exactly is the Government trying to achieve by making most of the UK bankrupt from trying to keep up with paying the bills?! Additional Details I don't read the daily mail.
Did you ever think that as Immigrants are coming to the UK to work they are taking our jobs as they are willing to work for a lot less money. |

I think that you and I are onthe same wavelenght, I havent yet read other peoples answers, but can see no reason why people would be attacking you for your opinions. I agree with you. It seems that we give everything to the EU but get nothing back in return. It is sad and frustrating to have to sit back and watch out country being given away. |

Its all down to massive Government spending, wastage and over administration. Immigration is defiantly part of the problem. |

Britain seems to have a reputation to keep internationally. It's always (quite rightly) willing to help out during times of disaster etc. and this costs a lot of money. Disasters and conflict are (sadly) unavoidable and during these times, the world looks to Britain for support so I'm guessing the government feels obliged to help at whatever cost. I do think charity begins at home and Britain should set an example for the rest of the world with more investment in supporting and developing domestic initiatives than put on a show for the rest of the world. |

the government are greedy!!! see it is obviously a must for them to increase taxes so that they can afford to refurbish their 2nd homes, i mean some of us havent if got a house of our own yet. Did u also know that apparently they can lower cost of fuel by 14 pence a litre without costing them anything!? |

I am sure part of the problem is the flood of immigrants into the country. Someone else said most come to work, whilst that may be true, then theres less work for the Brits and they are forced onto the dole and claiming benefits so they are a drain on the tax payer, even if they don't want to be. (Lets not mention the ones that have no intention of ever working)
There are alot of things in the UK that are wrong, P.C for instance is getting out of hand. The national health system is up the Swanee and cannot support all who want the help.
Someone has to pay for the government to sit back nicely earning huge amounts of money for doing the complete opposite of what B. Citizens really want. I'm afraid the people who have to pay for all this, is the normal hard working tax payer.
This is why I moved abroad years ago, the UK was going down the drain then in 1991 and is still going down it.
Sorry I can't give you any more positive answers but the problem lies with the lily livered government who are only interested in keeping other countries happy, and not their own people. |

I agree,they come here and take,take,take !
Plus we give free NHS care to any one who comes here.
Also cut what we give to other countries (charity starts at home !)
Perhaps then we might cut our waiting list and our elderly and needy will be better off ! |

Probably we are not paying enough taxes. Unfortunately I suspect our tax revenue is being wasted. I think we have a growing number of civil servants although a lot of their work has been sub-contracted to the private sector. Middle England seem to be supporting/paying for the minorities. We must be paying a load of "tax" by way of parking fines, speed cameras, disposal of our own rubbish etc. .Whilst the criminal classes are having a field day. You can get a £40 fine for poodling along at 32mph in a 30 limit, but get pissed out of your mind Sat night and make your local High Street a no-go area and nothing happens to you. I don't think anyone would mind paying a bit more tax if they knew it was going to be spent wisely and we had good hospitals, schools, teachers, police, rubbish disposal, roads etc.
I live near Bexleyheath in Kent. From Sat morning to Sun morning there is acontinuous wail of police sirens. This police activity must be costing us a fortune.
Some politician said the other day poor people are hit most by rising fuel prices and they wouldn,t be able to run their cars. Poor things. Why do the rest of usl go to work and try to improve our lives and finances? |

Though the tax system in this country is currently bringing many people to their knees i would rather be living in the UK than somewhere like India.
I was over there earlier in the year and when you see the way people live because of the lack of infrastructure supported by taxes you do actually come to appreciate how nice a place the UK is to live.
HOWEVER, i do agree, we could still have a nice place to live and pay lower taxes if we sorted out the benefit cheats in this country whether they be foreign imports or home grown. |

Bad government, they are the only source of increased and extravagant taxation while voting ridiculous raises for their own useless asses.! MP's are parasites who leach on the rest of us, without taxation their would be no government and we's all be # better off.! |

I agree, our government is a complete and utter joke in respect of it's immigration policy and it's encouraging people to be unemployed and keeping popping out kids they can't afford benefit system. It's getting embarassing. Who ever voted Labour in the first place?!
Only another couple of years and fingers crossed we will be well shot of them for a couple of decades. |

We are taxed so much because we are a nuclear power.
Other countries of our size are not mainting a nuclear fleet and air force.
Other countries our size are not supporting armies in Iraq and Afghanistan.
All of that costs a hell of a lot of money, which other countries use for transport, roads, education etc. |

It's getting more expensive to run any business... and like it or not, a country is very much a business...
The demands we're placing on government generally are contributing to our own downfall I think - we need to look at the way we live to take responsibility for our own 'costs' and it'll have a knock-on effect - the trouble is WE WON'T?
Sure, there is exesive govt waste, but that's not all that's causing this situation... would you go to the doc as often if you had to pay for it directly... probably not... would you work (harder) if there were no benefits from govt... probably yes |

I'd look a bit closer to home if I were you. Have you any idea how much England subsidises Scotland and Wales? Free prescriptions, no higher education fees... Lovely eh? |

Why don't you do a bit of research before jumping to conclusions about immigrants? You can't claim that they are all on benefits and in the same sentance say they are all working for less money than British workers...
In other countries you pay for schooling and health seperately, in this country we don't and so our taxes are higher as a result.
There is also the issue with waste that this (and every government before and since) never seems to tackle. Millions are wasted each year on schemes that never work, bureacracy, ineffeciency, laziness and repeating work that's already been done... |

Most immigrants come to the UK to work, not to sponge off the state.
Don't believe everything the Daily Mail tells you. |
