CAN I CLAIM MYSELF as dependent?

amcnairfew
no you can not claim yourself as a dependent, but you can claim yourself as an exemption this means by claiming yourself as an exemption a portion of your income is exempt. For the 2006 tax year exemptions are 3300 for self, 3300 for spouse, and 3300 per dependent up to four.

No you cannot claim yourself as a dependent. You are only one legal person.....even if you are Sybil and have 18 different and distinct personalities.

You do however, get one personal exemption for yourself, which is the same amount as the dependent exemption.

You can claim an exemption/deduction for yourself, but a dependent must be a seperate human being, amongst other things.

No, you are not your own dependent, but you can claim a $3300 exemption for yourself as long as nobody else can claim you as a dependent.

what if any and how will my claiming my 18 yr old daughter who is now in college, as a dependant hurt her tax return, as I dont claim any expenses for college that she has spent. I will only be claiming the expenses for her senior year in high school and yes she lived with me for 7 months of last year.
