Yes..and it's not a bad idea. If your return gets lost in the mail it is YOUR responsibility to PROVE you mailed it!! How do you do that??? Well, you can sent it Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested, then you get a card back from IRS proving delivery....or, as you thought, you can send it Fed EX, your return is tracked and you can prove it was delivered....
As of September 5, 2002, the following delivery services qualify for filing your returns and tax payments:
* Airborne Express (Airborne): Overnight Air Express Service, Next Afternoon Service, and Second Day Service
* DHL Worldwide Express (DHL): DHL "Same Day" Service and DHL USA Overnight
* Federal Express (FedEx): FedEx Priority Overnight, FedEx Standard Overnight, FedEx 2 Day, FedEx International Priority, and FedEx International First
* United Parcel Service (UPS): UPS Next Day Air, UPS Next Day Air Saver, UPS 2nd Day Air, UPS Day Air A.M., UPS Worldwide Express Plus, and UPS Worldwide Express
The address for delivery in your area is at "irs.gov"
I'm not an IRS agent, but I play one on TV!
Good Luck! |

No reason to - it has to be 'postmarked' no later than the 17th. It doesn't have to be there by the 17th. |

simply stated y would u. There is no need. I would not even use certified mail. All you need to do is have it post marked by the 17th using regular mail. If for some reason it was lost trust me the IRS would eliminate the fine.

I don't think so, since they only have PO Boxes.
You shouldn't need to...You have until Monday at midnight to have it postmarked.
And if you're in a hurry, maybe you should e-file. I got my refund back in a week by e-filing. |

You need a physical address to Fedex something, so if you can get the physical address of the IRS then yes, if not no. |
