Can I at another income tax place if I didnt pay for my taxes to get done yet?
ok well a couple of week ago i went to go file my taxes at this plac but she said I had to pay 50 bucks to get tthem done because I wasnt getting much back. I gave her a copy of my ID SOCIAL and thae stub thingy from the w-2 form. so can i file at another place? please help somebody!!!!!!!!!!

If the "stub thingy" you gave them was copy B of your W2, then return there and get it back. If you signed nothing and paid them nothing, then they did nothing.

Learn how to do it yourself. If your adjusted gross income was $54,000 or less in 2007, you can use Free File to prepare and e-file your taxes online:

Here is a clear answer. If you did not pay them or sign something stating they will deduct $50 from your return, then they did not file your tax return. Plan and simple. You have no obligation to them, feel free to go somewhere else.

Laissez-Faire Guy
Any place that prepares your taxes is going to charge you. Of course you can always do them yourself and save the money. I actually find doing my own taxes quite informative. You really get a sense of how much you make and where it goes when answering all the questions and filling out the forms.

If the lady doing them has not already started on them, you should be able to cancel and do elsewhere.

Yes, you still have to pay if you expect someone else to do your taxes. Do your own and save. Easy to learn.

linz_b
you're still going to have to pay if you go get them done. the tax preparer is not going to work for free, obviously. but if you didnt pay, they aren't going to do it. just go back and pick up your documents. they are yours, after all

mikeeyman
Yes.... Your return will take less than 5 minutes to complete... You can take them to any tax place or do them yourself.

chatsplas
IF you didn't file, didn't pay her, she didn't file, your return is on hold. Most services will VOID your return and give you back your stuff. Some places will expect payment for the time they put in on your return--not unreasonably.

Probably at this point best to pay her and do differently next year.

Grant Ray came on 12/8/08!
Yes, but it is going to cost no matter where you go. Why don't you get someone to do them for you? Some local colleges and libraries do them for free, especially for low income or elderly if you fall into either of those categories. You should check around. As long as they haven't already filed them, go and get all of your w2's from them and go somewhere else.
