The 25 yr old can be claimed as a Qualifying Relative if he lived in your home ALL year and had less than $3,400 in gross income AND received more than half of his support from you.
The 26 yr old can be claimed as a Qualifying Child if he's totally and permanently disabled if he lived in your home for 6 months or more and provided less than half of his OWN support. He's considered totally disabled if he is unable to support himself. It's considered permanent if it is projected to last for a year or more. If he's not considered totally and permantly disabled then he can still qualify as a Qualifying Relative under the same criteria as the 25 yr old. |

They are too old to claim them as qualifying children. But there's another type of dependent, qualifying relative. If they had no income and you provided over half of their support, you can claim them that way as dependents. so it sounds from your question like the answer is yes. |

They would qualify under qualifying relatives. Fulltime students have to be 24 or under for qualifying child. You would not qualify as head of household but both can be dependents if their incomes are less than $3400 |

Yes, if their gross income was less than 3,400 and you provided over half of their total support. They would both be your qualifying relative. If your child with the mental condtion received disabililty it is not counted as gross income.
There is NO age limit for qualifying relatives and your children DO NOT have to live with you to qualify. |

I'm not sure about that.
You might because they live with you and you provided all the support.
Check the irs.gov website. They have a Q&A section that might have an answer for you. |

Yes you can - as long as you supported them ---EVEN if they didn't live with you. You can claim ANYONE you supported even NON relatives.
I wish people who didn't really know the answer would stop answering. |

Full-time students can be claimed as dependents up to age 23. If you have a mentally-challenged son/daughter, I believe there is no age limit. So one yes, one no. |
