Yes any child born in 2006 can be claimed on your taxes for that year and can be continued to be claimed on your taxes throughout their college days as long as you provide the majority of his/her support.

Of course. If your child was born on 12/31/2006 at 11:59pm, he/she is a dependent the whole year.

Yes. If you have the means, I would recommend gifting money to your child as well.

Yes, as long as the child is born this year, he can start being claimed as a dependent.

Yes. But when your child turns 18 in 2024, you can't claim him at all for that year.
