I have 3 kids (2 with one daddy and 1 with another). i lost custody of all of them cuz i was doing drugs and "neglecting them" (what the court said). they live with their daddys now. i dont pay any child support and i dont look at the official looking letters i get cuz they always want money. but i see them every few months when they let me and i'm sober. can i claim them as dependents on my taxes and get a check or something from the goverment? i have no problem lying and saying i help support them if i need to. i just really need some extra cash |

No, unfortunately, you can't claim your kids as dependants.
Even worse, I can't claim your kids as dependants, even though a portion of my paycheck obviously goes towards supporting your kids.

No you can't. Their daddies can claim them since the kids are living with them, but you have no right to claim them.
You aren't being very smart if you just don't open the official letters. Sticking your head in the sand isn't going to make this go away, and ignoring the official letters will eventually come back to bite you.
If you need some extra cash, get a job, or if you already have one, get a second one. |

No, you don't have custody, they're dads do. They get to claim them. If you claim them and the gov. finds out, they will get you for all the money you owe. So here's a thought, clean up your act, get a real job, stop doing drugs, and maybe you would have some cash. |

You can only claim them if you pay for over half of their support and you have them at least half time - you have no right to claim them as dependents because you don't help them at all. If you need cash, just get a job! |

I wouldn't do that, especially if you lost custody. If they don't live in your household, it will be hard and it could come back to bite you. |

Normally the custodial parent can claim the child. You can claim only when the custodial parent allows you to claim the child.
