Can I claim my newborn daughter on my tax return this year?
I was reading on the IRS web site that a qualifyng child that you are able to claim on your income taxes must be living with you at least half of the year before you can claim them on your tax return but my daughter was not born until november 28 2007. will i be able to still claim her?

As long as she was born by 11:59 pm on December 31 it is the same as though she was around all year.

Judy1
That's OK, you can claim her. The rule about living with you half of the year doesn't apply when the child was born that year.

Yes.
If your child had been born even on Dec. 31 you would still be able to claim it for the year.

Do you have a ss# for her you will need that.

rubberduckygeorge
yep, claim her, that law is for older children especially pertaining to divorced or separated parents. even when she gets older, if she lives in a dorm in college, you can still claim her as living there for a whole year.

Rick B
yes you can claim her as long as she was born before Dec 31.

Thanks.Alot!
sure can as long as it was in 2007

Yep, like everyone said, you can claim her, since she was born in 2007.

We have some good friends who just had their 2nd child. The mom had to have a scheduled C-section for the birth due to medical reasons.... The baby's due date was 7 Jan 2008, but the doc said they could have the C-section as early as a week before (so as early as 31 Dec 2007), so the Daddy said "Heck ya, 31 Dec baby = claimed on 2007 taxes!" LOL (They had a healthy baby boy at 1:23 that afternoon, and named him after my husband!)

Yes, you can claim her. As long as she was born before 11:59pm on December 31st, claim away! Make sure you have her social security number first though. If you don't have it before you file your taxes, call the Social Security Administration and they should be able to give it to you.
