Can I get money back from the gas I spend driving to work and back when I file my taxes?

It's me
NO YOU CANNOT. Commuting expenses are not deductible. Driving for work would be deductible. Say you run out of lightbulbs at your office and go pick some up. The mileage may be deductible to you as employee business expenses on Schedule A (to qualify has to be above 2% of your AGI, ie: if you made $30,000 after any applicable credits you would have to had more than $600 of employee business expenses before you could deduct a dollar. To further that. Say you had $700 in employee expenses. You would get a $100 schedule A deduction. [$700 in total deductions minus the 2%) or on your schedule C if you are self employed.

Best of luck!

No.

However, if you have to drive from one work location to another, or use your vehicle for work business (i.e. drive from work to the office store and back) then you can deduct those miles, but you need to keep records.

If you drive your car to the airport to catch a business flight, those miles there and back are deductable, as well as the price for parking.

If you are driving to work no. But if you're a pizza delivery person(for example) or have a job that involves you driving yes because it is your job to drive.

only if it's done for business purposes during your shift. Not the initial commute to and from home.

i know if you own your own business, then yea. Or if you write it off as a school expense, yea. I think you can for work too if you use your car as part of the job like a delivery person, taxi, towing, or snow plowing, etc. but in any case you will have to show proof of receipts. And in that case you can write off any car maintenance expenses as well.
