Just take it back to the store with the receipt. It will have a 1 year manufacturer's warranty on it. Argos are always very good about exchanging faulty goods.

I found Argos to be pretty good. Although you have had it six months try taking it back it doesn't hurt to ask.

Go and see the manager of the Argus store you bought it from.Most products have a basic 12 month warranty .So you might well get a refund or credit note.

Cannot see why not. If you've got the original receipt then take the item back to the store where you bought it and see if they will a) give you your money back, or b) exchange your broke one for a new one.
You should at least have a one year guarantee with the item your purchased. So Argos may insist you try that first. . .get it fixed by the maker etc.

Argos won't give you your money back now after 5 months, they will probably send it back to the manufacturers TomTom because it must have at least a 12 month guarantee with them surely. I have a feeling that any refund would now have to come from TomTom after 5 months.

The item is guaranteed for 12 months anyway. Take it back to Argos and they will probably replace it. Best way is to ask for a refund first. Then you get a new one and the guarantee will run for 12 months from purchase date. If you have a replacement then the guarantee will run from the day you purchased the first one. Do it ASAP though.

You should be able to get your money back if you go in. As far as I know the warranty/insurance options are extra rights and no not change or effect your statutory rights in any way.

Yes, your Tom Tom is covered by the retailer's guarantee and your statutory rights for 12 months from the purchase date. (this applies to all goods. Sale of goods act 1979) Take it back to the store. The will either offer a repair refund or exchange.
