My prayers are with you and your family. I am so sorry for your loss.
Yes you may still claim her , as long as she still qualified as a dependent. Under the age of 19 or 24 if a full time student, or disabled, if she was a US Citizen, if you supported over 50% of her support. As far a living with you for more than six months, they will make an exception for that if you attach her death certificate only with the return. You will still qualify for the child tax credit and Earned Income Credit if applicable also.

If you could otherwise have claimed her as a dependent, yes. The 6 month residence rule does NOT apply to children who are born or die during the year; by law they are considered to have lived with you for 12 months.

My condolences on your loss.

Yes, provided that she otherwise qualified.

I don't know the answer to this question, but I wanted to offer my condolences on your loss. I hope your mending.

Yes, for the duration that you supported her before her passing. My condolences.

theonlytufrose
Not likely unless she died less that a couple months ago. I think there is a limit. on how long into the year.

according to the law,if she was living the last six months of the year you can file her. i also would like to say i pray for your loss that GOD allows the hurt to heal.

What ??

I guess the for the time period she was alive it would apply - but seriously is the tax saving really that much of an issue ?
